Solemn Nightmare Poem by C. K. Young

Solemn Nightmare

A dark nightmare haunts me to this day
The only colors in it are red, black, and grey
In the middle lays a wooden casket
And a lone light descends upon it
The face of those who I love and cared for suddenly appear
No sooner had they been visible, they soon began to disappear
The light from above soon melded and faded
But my pain never abated
Above the casket hangs a note reading: 'Died Alone...'
And quickly the casket snaps open and inside it my face had shown
