Soliders For Him Poem by Halie Apperson

Soliders For Him

Thump Thump Thump,
I can hear the sound of their footsteps pounding against the floor.
Bam Bam,
They pound against the door wanting me to open it so they can kill me too.

I run and hide behind our hidey door,
I try not to scream as I hear them tap against the walls.
Tap Tap Tap,
They come to a stop at my hiding spot.

I look for the hidden trap and crawl through it,
I lock it and start crawling down the tunnel.
I get to the other door and peek out,
I catch my breath as I see more than one solider out there.
I lock that door and sit still.

I was always told to not say or do anything once I was in this tunnel,
I cry and stop as a solider comes closer to my tunnel.
He kicks the door and thinks its nothing,
I start to smell smoke coming from the outside.

RIIIP RIIIIIIP RIIIIIIIIIIP,
I cry as I hear the upstairs door open.
I see them throw sticks of fire inside the rooms,
Then laugh knowing that's how they will all die.
