Somebody Should Have Told You Poem by Jessi Odom

Somebody Should Have Told You

Somebody should have told you, you were the shining sun's ray
The yellow that paints the sky, and makes the perfect day.

Somebody should have told you that they needed you around
That your laughter was contagious, and how you made them proud.

Somebody should have told you that you hung just like the moon
Giving light to the darkest day, and promising morning soon.

Somebody should have told you that you were a flower in the field
That without your blossom, the others seem to yield.

I wish they would have told you that you were loved everyday
That it wouldn't be the same if you went away.

I wish someone had told you that without you I can't be
But I wish I could have known that someone should be me.
