Someday Poem by Lana May Hamlin

Someday

I wonder if I have the strength to do
What everyone else is telling me not to
To put my heart out there one more time
To dance one last dance in our bedtime rhyme
We’ve walked this path once before
Both our hearts ended up shattered and bleeding on the floor
But even through it all, one thing has remained the same
You and I still love each other even as we played our hurtful game
For a while I told myself that I didn’t need you
But that turned out to be a lie - it was anything but true
You are the only one that’s made me this happy
To write a poem that is this sappy
But in your arms is where I feel so safe and warm
Your eyes calm my fiercest storm
Your hands so tender as they caress mine
Our hearts together as one is so fine
Everyday I spend apart from you
Is another torture I have to endure
I want to be with you every second of every day
Cuddled in your arms is where I prefer to stay
I want to be with you for the rest of my life
And maybe someday become your loving wife
