Someday Poem by Adam Thoms

Someday

I don't play guitar to copy other peoples' sound
I won't buy a car to simply drive us to the ground
We may not be too far compared to everyone around
But someday we'll be world renowned.

I'm not here to break a string
Or dazzle with a diamond ring
I won't play behind my head,
But I might carry you to bed.

Because I know better ways to portray
Feelings that I think are okay
A wink on the brink of risque.
Ink might make a marvelous boquet.

It was you and me & something we can't see
Together as one tree
It was me and you; a plant we took and grew
That requires rain as well as skies of blue.
It was you and I: all odds we'll defy
Growing towards the blue sky

I'm not here to break a string
Or dazzle with a diamond ring
I won't play behind my head,
But I might carry you to bed.

Because I know better ways to portray
Feelings that I think are okay
A wink on the brink of risque.
Ink might make a marvelous boquet.

I don't play guitar to copy other peoples' sound
I won't buy a car to simply drive us to the ground
We may not be too far compared to everyone around
But someday we'll be world renowned.
