Something I Look At-89

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-89
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

Apprehension kills,
snatches away the moments,
the tiny pleasures,
little drops of happiness
that come your way.

It eats the vitals of your life,
makes you hallow inside,
puts you always on the back foot,
reduces you to a physical body
where there is hardly any life

It breeds fear
fear makes you listen to its call
and you live the whole of your life under its shadow feeding, nourishing and
carrying it with you wherever you go.

It takes the juice out oflife
and let you live in perpetual fear
of losing something you have
and the fear of not having the things
you cherish and wish to come by.

Apprehension,
a psychic state of mind,
keeps you on your toes,
the unseen future hunts you all along,
never allows you to live in the present
and you spend your time anticipating something not so good to happen.

In the prime of youth,
the fear of disease, old age and death
dances before your eyes.
In plenty, you see misery and poverty,
in moments of joy and ecstasy, you listen to the voice of grief and agony,
compose your own lyric of life
and lend an ear to its poignant melody.

Apprehension is not a genuine concern,
hardly materialises,
but time and again youcome under its spell.
Something which doesn't have a basis
becomes the theme of your life
compel you to go with it
and make a hell of your life.

Don't kill yourself when still alive,
have faith, never allow your
apprehension to chase you.
Live without fear, bravely face life
enjoy and endure its beauty and adversity
as and when they visit.
