Something I Look At-362

SOMETHING I LOOK AT-362
BY-SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY

In dreams, I see your lovely face,
Uncertain when our paths will find their place.
The queen of hearts, with beauty shining bright,
Will you someday glance my way, and make my heart take flight?

In this life or the next, I yearn to meet,
To hold your hand, and gaze into your sweet retreat.
If fate denies us, my greatest sorrow will remain,
A lifetime of longing, with love in vain.

If we do meet, what words can I express?
'I love you' seems inadequate, a mere caress.
My eyes will speak volumes, with tears of joy and cheer,
Hoping you'll see the love, that's always been so clear.

Can you accept me, flawed and worn?
A tree that's lost its vigor, its leaves long torn?
I fear I'm not deserving, of your love so true,
Yet, my heart beats for you, my soul mate, anew.

How can I hold you back, from life's delight?
From all the joys, that shine with promise bright?
My love, you deserve the best, a life that's free and wide,
Not one that's hindered, by a love that's stepped aside.

Yet, my heart cries out, to be with you, to share,
One moment, one glance, before my time is spare.
To meet you once, my love, before I bid adieu,
Is the one wish, that my heart holds true.
