SOMETHING I LOOK AT-377
BY- SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY
It seems as if years have passed,
Since we last met, a moment cast.
Maybe I last sensed your presence,
Before a week, though it feels immense,
As if decades have slipped away,
In just a single passing day.
When you moved away,
With you, you moved the earth and sky.
Have you ever thought what would happen to me,
In your absence, to one whose day starts with thee?
It is your choice.
Who am I to voice?
After your departure,
I hang in Trishanku's sky, a muted fixture.
Neither alive nor dead,
I see but do not shed,
I hear but do not listen,
I sense but feel no glisten.
I only hear my heart's beat,
Rhyming with my pain, incomplete.
Of what use are those eyes,
That do not see you, under skies?
Of what use those years,
That do not listen to you, my fears?
Of what use is that heart,
Which has turned to dust, torn apart.
My love, come back.
Open the gate, unlock the track.
My heart is dying, desperate to meet,
I have not seen you, my life's heartbeat.
I want to see you,
Before this beautiful world says adieu.
