SOMETHING I LOOK AT-388
BY SMRUTI RANJAN MOHANTY
(ARTABANDHU DAS,
The First Teacher of Alanahat High School)
Alanahat's dawn of knowledge bright,
Rising from darkness, he brought the light.
Taking the lead as the founder grand,
A school was born by his guiding hand.
Born in Narua, in Naganpur's land,
Answering fate's and duty's demand.
Not just a teacher, a pillar so tall,
Dedicated to learning, he gave his all.
Hearing the call from Samaj's page,
Under Madhu Babu, he stepped on stage.
Daring to teach with passion untamed,
Angry at times, yet deeply acclaimed.
Sight in one eye was lost in strife,
Yet vision for learning shaped many lives.
Till '64, he stood so strong,
His lessons echo, a guiding song.
Educational renaissance he did ignite,
Glowing forever, his name shines bright.
Even in passing, he'll always remain,
Respected and loved, beyond time's chain.
(Artabandhu Das was the first and founding teacher of what is now known as Alanahat High School. Hailing from Narua, Naganpur, he responded to an advertisement published in The Samaj, which led him to meet Madhu Babu. As a result, he became the first teacher at the school, where classes began with the fourth grade.
Before joining Alanahat ME School, he ran a Chatashali (a traditional village school) . He dedicated his life to education, serving as a teacher until 1964, when he passed away. Known for his strict demeanour and having lost vision in one eye, he left a lasting impact on the community.
Artabandhu Das is remembered as a pioneer of education in the locality, playing a crucial role in the region's educational renaissance. His contributions continue to inspire generations.
