Something That Involves A Floral Tablecloth Poem by Shelby Barker

Something That Involves A Floral Tablecloth

He said
“You’re the sugary grass,
the cotton-candy sky
And everything in between…
I’ve got a sweet tooth, craving you”
As they sat on her, under her
on a floral tablecloth that’d do,
eating carrots and cherry pie
Singing and letting life pass by
Happily.
She said
“You’re the weeping willow leaves,
the smiling sun’s shine
and everything in between…
I can’t deny I love being outside”
As they sat underneath him, beneath him
the floral tablecloth flapping in the breeze
singing songs and flying a kite
Letting all time pass them by
Happily.
“But isn’t it too bad
sweet teeth must be removed
and night must always come?
Trees must always die? ”
“Sure; but we’ll have our floral tablecloth.”
