Somnambulist Poem by Victoria Annette Bailey

Somnambulist

Climb from your bed in innocence
Stepping with inconstant balance.
Shallow breath on a window pane
Mist over enkindled rain.
Eyes block out the pale moon
Descends between the Earth and you.
Every step unseen, unheard
A puppeteer devoid of words.
Climbing further round the stairs
Dreaming of a futile dare.
Like a prisoner, shamed upon the floor
Your hand extends to reach the door.
Coarse rope binds your lips so close
You glide through the hall; a nameless ghost.
Blind to every move you make
Journey as you can't awake.
This is not somnambulism as was told
This is Everyone's life; left uncontrolled.
