Son... Poem by Betty Jo Hilger

Son...

Rating: 5.0

I am what I am, and all that I am,
is what the other folk see
My face, a facade, painted bright with your love,
has 'come to mean more than just me

My countenance' smile reflects every whim
bestowed by the grace of your youth
Transformed and improved, my soul, here renewed,
and I long to confer my accord

Every tear you have shed, fell first from my head
to land like a ghost from my heart
Every pain you have felt, I bore as I knelt
tattered and frayed, torn apart...

But each joy, ah the joy... I cannot impress
how the ecstasy brought me such peace
For you, my left hand, standing firm on the sand
are my legacy, borne from my dreams

My love, my success
My ache, yet no less,
You, an extension of me...
Complete we.
