Song. Poem by Susan Evance

Song.

LET Pity's gentle voice awake
The softly stealing sigh;
And tears in trembling radiance break
Forth from your pensive eye.

For grief like this refines the heart-
While ev'ry selfish care,
Lost in compassion's sacred smart,
Shall cease to rankle there.
