Song Of My Life (Inspired By Walt Whitman) - Poem by Kenneth Emerton

My life is like a tornado, twisting and turning,
Never knowing where it will stop but I know that it’s hurting.

Have you ever watched an ant walk up an ant hill,
On a day where the entire world seems still?
Somedays I just stop and look around,
And for a second, I don’t’ feel like I’m lying on the ground.
I think the world would be happier, if we just took some time,
To stop listening to all the crap, took a break and relaxi like it was bedtime.
I’ve seen a lot of people in my time, some who made me sick,
But I found that if you just ignore them, they will go away quick.

My grandfather taught me before he died, never to think negatively,
And he sat there having Cancer, living his life normally.
Before that I saw life as a hit or miss,
Stuff happens then you die getting praise and getting dissed.
But then I realized life was more,
It was a giant mansion and I had found the door.

The world is bad and getting worse,
It’s kind of like a permanent curse.
No matter what we say or do,
The entire world is screwed.
The Government is ruining the country,
So now we cannot be free.
Our economy sucks, our people are racist,
Some are against gays, and some are sexist.
The world is bad and getting worse,
It’s kind of like a permanent curse.

There aren’t many good people left,
But the few who are try to stop the theft.
But people refuse to listen to them,
Even though their the voice of reason.
They just push them and walk away with their heads hung,
Why is it true that only the good die young?

When the Earthquake happened in Haiti,
We came together to help it was crazy.
For the first time for a while,
We were all happy and not vile.
We were helpinig one another, and it was really great,
It was like the ‘60’s, showing love instead of hate.
It’s things like that that remind me of what a great country I live in,
Even if we sometimes we fight and go on a backspin.

Some people think, that I am creepy
But they are the ones who forced me
To create the creeper and attack them all,
It was revenge but now it’s my fall.
Because it began to backfire and now they all hate me,
How I wish I could stop being creepy.
But it’s in my veins and I cannot stop it,
The strange thing it it’s not hard to admit.
