Songs & Scars Pulling Me Down Poem by William Mowell

Songs & Scars Pulling Me Down

Songs about rain getting me down,
turn off the radio to an unnerving sound
My own mind spinning around like a carousel,
Living in my mind a dreary hell

Gary Allan use to make me laugh,
but now I cry at the bottom of a glass
The clown cheers me up for awhile,
but soon fades along with the smile

This cowboy hat and sunglasses cover up the paint,
only on the days I feel faint
I care too much for the pain that I feel,
Now these days I can't fucking deal

I saw her drowning and offered a hand,
she sunk fast and I can't reach dry land
She pulled me down with her,
and now real life and make believe is a blur

As I listen to Papa Roach's Scars,
I get out the dusty ole guitar
Play a few lines and sing a few bars,
my mind seems like its headed for mars
