Sonnet: Death, The Thief Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Death, The Thief

Most people known to me have left the scene;
The people left are just a few I know;
Death robs the world of souls in ways so mean;
All creatures die and there's no other go.

But I am not afraid to leave the world;
By death, we sleep for long and none can wake;
The flag of life we hoist must be unfurled;
Enslaved by death, all are, genuine or fake.

But death comes like a thief to some in sleep;
Some end their lives prematurely on earth;
The sacred life God gave, we ought to keep;
God has a purpose special for each birth.

But creatures all must bow to Maker's plan;
So, keep your soul ready to meet death, man.
