Sonnet: Nature Is Simply Great Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: Nature Is Simply Great

Rating: 0.5

I love to breathe the early morning air
And feel its cool and freshness touch my skin;
I love to see the leaping agile hare,
Across the woods, trees, shrubs and hedges thin.

I love to take a walk after the rain,
The red mud soddened but not slushy ground;
The new leaves sprouted all over again,
Growing so well and fast, it does confound.

I love to exercise by walk each day,
And hear the birds sing songs and fly and play;
I love to see them peck by beak, go gay;
Dumb-founded by all God’s works, I just pray.

O, how Nature’s beauty becalms a soul!
The foolish creature man, makes it most foul.
