And when I think of those who left the earth –
Of friends, relatives, known and unknown souls,
I wonder what for we attained this birth,
As transient seem efforts and all our goals.
The emptiness and vanity of life,
Is treacherous, quite daunting and fearsome;
We’re caught in fighting problems amidst strife,
Sometimes forgetting God and what may come.
Our human endeavors will come to pass;
We all must leave the planet, God gave us;
Each one must carry his or her own cross,
And keep the road to heaven without fuss.
God has a brighter after-life for each;
We need not fret or fume, advise or preach.
