Sonnet: The Marriage At Cana (The First Miracle Of Jesus Christ) Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: The Marriage At Cana (The First Miracle Of Jesus Christ)

Christ Jesus with his disciples had gone
With mother Mary to a marriage feast,
As per the gospel written by Saint John;
His mother noted that the wine had ceased!

Perturbed, she told her son about this thing;
And Jesus queried what he was to do?
His hour hadn’t come for miracles to bring;
Of Christ’s miraculous powers, Mary knew!

She told the servants to do as he bid;
Then Jesus told them to fill up the pots
With water to the brim and they so did;
When Jesus prayed, now wine afilled the vats!

The better wine was always given first!
They little knew the wine was made by Christ!
