Sonnet: The Modern Man Poem by Dr John Celes

The modern man behaves in funny ways,
with craze for things that set his passions live;
He goes for food-fads, fashions, trendy days;
In swimming pools in hotels high, he'll dive.

Things mystic, mod have caught his heart and mind;
He acts per only his whims and fancies;
To virtual, unreal things, he will bind;
And quickly wants a life of lucre, ease.

Life's ventures are based on money's pivot;
He wastes his precious time and gifts of God;
He spends, invests and saves, yet lands in debt;
And though he's not, he thinks he is the Lord.

He can pull off achievements, aplenty;
His body, mind look aged at twenty.
