Sonnet: ’tis Lovely To Be A Child Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: ’tis Lovely To Be A Child

Look, how the children grow as years pass by,
And how their intellect improves with time,
And how they play about and appear shy,
And how they memorize, recite a rhyme!

Look, how they learn all things from adults fast,
And how they question all they hear and see,
And how they forget blunders of the past,
And how they forgive, live in harmony!

Give all the freedom, love, they do yearn for,
Give all the opportunities to learn;
Give all the encouragement, they can draw,
Give all the knowledge they need, but be stern!

An age when you know not the right from wrong!
’Tis great to be a child but for how long?
