Sonnet V Poem by Gabe Florsheim

Sonnet V

The world we live in is one of numbers
A blind redundancy; one and zeroes
In a monotonous mental slumber
We craft fissures and ignore the shadows
The tears shed edge on a soulless brink
Of false empathy and mass acceptance
We caress the mind but unclearly think
Our actions warrant sacred repentance
We are the acid rain to humanity
A vulnerable world full of blinded eyes
Avarice will corrupt our sanity
While the greenhouse grows the wild flower dies
We are slaves to power and plead for more
Rise up! Rise up! This is a call to war…
