Sonnet: What’s Life? Poem by Dr John Celes

Sonnet: What’s Life?

Rating: 3.3

Life isn’t a hundred-meters’ dash but ’tis
Rather a marathon of unknown length;
Life isn’t a matter of material bliss,
But of hard-work, will-power and mind’s strength.

Life isn’t a fifty-meters hurdles but
Rather a decathlon, grueling style;
Life isn’t a matter of a fine hair-cut,
But of struggles and protracted a smile.

Life isn’t a weight-lifting championship,
But tests one’s stamina in every way;
Life isn’t a war of nerves but of friendship,
Of morals, goodness, ethics every day.

Life isn’t a rocket to glory, stardom,
But a sustained access to God’s kingdom!
