Sonnet- X Poem by Sherwin Ilagan

Sonnet- X

Rating: 4.0

Thou hast the face of everything I see,
And thou art gleam behind a yonder lamp,
To what I saw in thee, is not with me;
‘Cause ignorance doth chide me with a clamp.
O shall it be the view of wisdom glass
It is the alchemy of graceful rhyme,
The mentor-ship from thee I need to pass:
‘Twas thine apprenticeship (my precious time)
And if you merit me with thy high praise
Thus, I did please the garden of thy throne?
Then I became a tenant of thy place;
O graciously thou accept mine atone.

Your critique has a point: that must abide,
A guiding quill of thine is in my side.
