Sorry, I'M Late Poem by Izzy Ruffin

Sorry, I'M Late

Rating: 5.0

I woke up,
the clock read 7: 51.
I raced to the bathroom,
to get ready for school,
and got on my clothes,
and trampled out the door.
Step by step I hurried,
and raced to the school,
to get to homeroom,
or at least period one.
I counted as I walked,
one, two, three, four,
as the minutes passed by.
I walked by the bridge,
water gushing below my feet.
I walked pass Elaine’s,
and that distinct smell
of french toast and bacon,
but I hurried on by.
I raced to the end of Penquis Drive.
Finally, I was there,
I continued to count,
and ran to the doors.
The empty hallways,
echoed the school.
Voices of the kids,
that had been here before.
I hurried into room 208,
“Sorry, I’m late, ” I say.
