Soundtrack Poem by Alejandro Torres

Soundtrack

I’d like to sing you a song
Though I may not yet know
All the words
Or the proper melody
It starts in winter
With the tone of spring
Smiles and joy
But the days of my birthright
Will go with a touch of lies
Outlined in gold
And the violin enters
Sweet and fun
But on the inside
Hollow and plain
Between our beginning
And end
I misplaced your middle
Would it matter
If it changed
Subjects and words
From false joy and true lies
To true love and bitter sweet ties
In the end
All the way to the very last note
The only thing that mattered
Was the soundtrack of your laughter
And your bright eyes alight
That your smile made stand out
With something simple
I’d like to call
Happiness
