I love Saturday's. Saturday's aren't school nights so mom lets me play for hours. I spend my day in Spacelandia on my iPad.
I love Spacelandia
Mom keeps telling me I need to go outside more, but Spacelandia is in Space, so I am outside.
Pick up the blaster, shoot the robot, hit the buzzer, close the door.
Level complete. Time for the next level.
The promise of tomorrow
Letting go of yesterday.
There's always another level.
The dinging noise of another completed task coming from my headphones
Technology claims to connect us to each other
but in reality I only feel disconnected
I sit at lunch
No words, no friends.
They stay in spacelandia,
So I sit alone at lunch.
I keep telling mom
I am playing with my friends.
We are facebooking instead of facing and looking
at the places or the faces we should be looking at.
when humanity is controlled by technology, that is the day I fear.
I usually play with Alfie621 and Gazzer11.
We said one day we'll meet in person and hang out.
It's fine if we don't
iPhone, iPod, but no eye-contact
Level 31
Facing faces
is a thing of the past.
I watch as fonts replace emotions,
emojis replace expressions
Level up
And how long will this level last
I can hear her, mom, calling in the background.
Just one more minute
Please
Where's the next level?
Game complete? That can't be right.
Why isn't there another level?
There's always another level.
I worry there is no going back. Technology has come too far.
I fear the day technology becomes reality.
And that day has begun
Game Over.
