Spectacular Tableau Of Chennai! (Madras - India)

O Madras! Thou art a chiselled living monument!
Thy creators have laid thee in the cradle of wonders,
Thy epic growth proclaims the names of thy creators -
The city's famed historian whose name is S Muthiah,
The eminent journalist whose name is Sashi Nair,
And the publisher whose name is Vincent D' Souza.
And in the years to follow there raised three others to nurture thee -
The higher-ranking columnist who hath been Sushila Ravindranath,
The website entrepreneur whose name is R Revathi,
And there joined the cluster of designers, who is V Sriram.
A writer and entrepreneur whose art hath been added to thee.

O Madras! Thou art a monument unified to be singled out with variety -
Pages of Education, Values of Healthcare, Science of IT,
Prints of History, Beauty of Tourism, Pioneering Auto Industries,
Scintillating entertainment thro' tunnels of movies!
Thou hast traversed miles together with milestones of visions,
And each milestone hath been a vein of enterprise towards thy growth,
Thy past, thy present shall design thy future - the culmination of magnitude of excellence,
Constellations of stars add beauty to thy existence,
Exchange of programmes of amazing creativity decorates thee,
Dramatics enhances splendor to thy tender texture,
Thou shalt be engraved in lasting artistic snapshots and videos.

O Madras! Thy history behind thee kindles thy citizens.
Thou wert founded on 22 August 1639 on the shores of Bay of Bengal,
The waves and the lullaby of the waters still ring into our hearts,
It was on the day a silver of land transacted by the East India Company,
Where Fort St. George still stands today - a molecular monument!
Struck a deal there ‘twixt Francis Day with his ‘dubash' Beri Thimmappa and the local Nayak rulers who made the deal,
With the assistance of Andrew Cogan, superior to Francis Day.
Thou, Madras, witnessed the deal in silent thunder.

O Madras! Thou embraced new huts and rural colonies,
Thou hast neither forsaken nor abandoned them,
Thou hast watched rustic and new-fangled faces reflected in thee.
The old and the new met each other to grow together,
Then, Madras! Thou wert growing up like the banyan treee.

O Madras! Thou art today Chennai relishing in the language of Tamil,
O Chennai! Thou art dwelling in the lives of many a people,
From rustic culture to technological advancements thou hast grown up,
Thou wilt grow, but will never grow old, but grow big….

This is the day thou wert born and we are here to celebrate the day,
With pomp and glory thy day shalt be cherished with new songs,
Be of good cheer! Let thee be clad with joy! Timeless scupture!
