Spider Poem by Rebecca Preis

Spider

I am a spider
Watch me hurt.

I'm crooked-legged
red-eyed
trapped in my own
web.

My sting is painful-
those who come in contact
suffer-
stuck fast in my sly and scheming
web

My head is filled
with beastly reddish-blackish fumes
eerie
inhuman
my eyes, they blankly stare
knowing just one truth-
Pain

I am encased
in a hard shiny shell
black enough
To reflect your face.
What I am
is a reflection of
you all.

I live alone
as spiders do
I spin my lies
craft my perilous tales
I trap unwitting ones
I gift my silk-wrapped secrets
I bite
I cause all harm.

I am a spider
Watch me hurt.
