Spinster Poem by angelica dela cruz

Spinster

For the heart is vulnerable,
and words are the medium;
Several years have passed, my dear.
How long it has been,
how we have both grown;
We've moved on perhaps?
For time is the
great healer of things;
A balm for the youth,
and relief for the old.
I had loved you then,
and have been alone since...
Never is there a lonelier feeling
than to love and be loved
and left
after the day is done.
I had missed you.
I miss you still.
I lost my heart;
There's been no other...
Chaste kisses in private
and only glances in public,
memories of mine;
It is very cruel, I think
To feel love and not be
able to express it.
But time has gone by,
and we are both aged.
How lovely your children look.
They are lucky to have such a father.
If I could turn back time,
would they have been mine as well?
I wonder and dream;
but that is all.
That is all, my dear...
In dreams do we live together,
man and wife,
together, together.
But I have my letters,
and you had your time.
Ours has gone.
I had hoped it woud've
lasted longer.
It was good seeing you.
I wish you
all possible happiness.
Good bye, my dear.
My friend, my love...
Good bye, goodbye.
Good bye.....
