Spoilt Of War Poem by Norman ODEH

Spoilt Of War

Tales were said of you,
Sweet tales of adventures and heroism,
Triumphantly you rode through galaxies
Enchantingly capturing every hearts that gazed
And suitors flock to your bossom
Bearing gifts from far and wide,
To tame your restless heart.

Oh Young and naive damsel,
Swept away by the charms of her suitors.
You forgot within the heart is the rise and fall of battles.
You never knew your suitors were merchants of the heart
and charms were their battle axe.
Naivety fogged your view,
and your heart was the spoil of war.

The once heartthrob and toast of kings
Now trodden under foot
Despised and abused
Till you reaped scorns.
While oceans flowed thru your eyes
and your head bowed in shame
Still the adventures of your fame
the Galaxies won't forget
