Spring Poem by John Champion

Spring

The forest creaks
Branches weighed down by snow
Ice crackling
Breath steaming
sound muffled
Light scarce
Words mumbled.

In a rage hewn clearing
No signs of struggle
Under the frost the limbs
Firm and still
Pure
Until spring.
