Even when you stand in one place,
Or sit in your favorite armchair, you travel
On a space ship called Earth.
It turns around its polar axis
and moves along its orbit around the Sun.

Furthermore, our whole Solar system orbits
Around the center of the Milky Way Galaxy
At an average velocity of 828.000 km per hour.
And you are on a long trip:
It takes about 230 million years to complete
One orbit around this spiral galaxy.

The Milky Way itself
moves across the universe at 2.1 million km/h.
According to astronomers,
in two billion years from now, the Milky Way
will fuse into one giant galaxy with Andromeda.
Don't worry, they say. The union will not disturb
significantly life on Earth.

Yesterday the meteorologist predicted
Sunny weather for today but it was raining.
