Standing Poem by tina marie thayer

Standing

Feeling the warmth
in my veins
Feeling the icy winds
across my skin
Blood coarsing through
my body
Tears rolling down
my cheeks
I stand somewhere in the middle
I see the darkness
all around me
Darkness put me in
the middle
I see the lights shining
bright
I thought it was the light
to Heaven
It was merely the blinding
lights of the cars
I stood somewhere in
the middle
I heard the horns sounding off
I thought surely it was
St. Peters calling
Alas it was the blaring horns
of the cars
I stand somewhere in
the middle
I hear the sirens so close
I fear its coming from below
Alas it is the ambulance
whose siren nears
I stood somewhere in
the middle
I feel heat from
the flame
Or is it that
I feel the warm blood
gushing through my veins
I fear that it is going
down below
Alas it is the heat of
a soul passing through
I stand somewhere in
the middle
I can see the light
I can hear the horns
I can hear the siren
I feel the flame
Yet i cannot move
I do not move
I fear the move
I am standing somewhere
in the middle
