Stapled To Yours Poem by Janine Alyssa Navarro

Stapled To Yours

Your words come on to me
And I am turned defenseless
These thick jackets
And persistent pillows
Can’t shelter me
From the quakes
You send across my heart
I’m too weak to decline
But I’m honest enough
To confess and say
How much you mean to me
How happy you make me feel

My vision blurs
As tears decide to pour
From my pale, sick face
But baby, you mean
The world to me
Probably a couple of moons
And several galaxies too
I’ve so much to say
I’ve so much to give you
But for now all I have
Are these words
I hope they do at least
A little bit of justice
To the paradise you’ve given me

I love you
With all of me
Body, mind and soul
I’d say my heart too
But it’s obviously already
Stapled to yours
