Staring At Silence (A Love Supreme) Poem by david stansfield

Staring At Silence (A Love Supreme)

We danced round the fire
And got touched by the burning embers
The flames took us higher
To somewhere I can't remember
I recall a spirit whispering in the night
Give your souls to me, it's alright
I'd love to take you home

We stared at the silence
Of truth that is never known
Losing our balance
Hurled to the light just like a stone
Everytime we tried to tell a lie we cried
Something happened to our souls that night
We found that thing called love

We touched the sky
Were only eagles fly
Then fell to holy waters below
But we beat the tide
Where other lovers tried
To get get the same reaction
Lost because they didn't know
That a Love Supreme
Is not built on dreams
