State Of Worldly Affairs Poem by Leaking Pen

State Of Worldly Affairs

The news from Egypt
Is sad and grim.
Syria a mess too
Israel lost its soul
Palestine is an orphanage.
Lebanon sailing on thin air
But still holding itself together with flair
Turkey the new eagle
Mastering its might in flight
While Iran does not know
Where to belong in history
And Saudi Arabia's hanging rope
Chocking half of its population
For their women have no voice
A country running on half empty
And Bahrain and Yemen still revolting
One step behind Libya's liberation
And Tunisia that started it all
With pride still marches on.
Greece's empty pockets
Grave concern to the euro zone
While Italy, Spain and Portugal
Soaking in dried up wells
like famine in Africa
A blip on the radar screen
And this Arab spring ship
Crossed over to the Atlantic
And here in New York and Washington
Voices of dissent from the have not generation
Bled dry by corrupted Wall Street greed
Fleecing the American dream
And our politicians with sharp teeth to grind
Stuck in the mode of insolence
Their feet showed up their mouth
With business as usual resolve
The plight of our nation's pain
'A mighty woman with a torch, whose flame
Is the imprisoned lightning, and her name
Mother of Exiles. From her beacon-hand
With silent lips. 'Give me your tired, your poor,
Your huddled few yearning to control the free,
Replaced with
'Give me your rested, your rich'
Your huddled few yearning to control the free, '
