Statue Beloved Poem by Yiling Ding

Statue Beloved

I love the man with those serious eyes,
that steady gaze
penetrating, but gentle,
seeing all, but accepting all.
Those unshifting eyes that are forever
focused on mine
with all the intensity
that love could bear.
I am in love with his silent calm,
his constant presence always
embracing me.
All the warm comfort he brings
saves me from my solitude.

He is Apollo,
captured in stone,
and I am but a mortal maid,
forever captivated
by his eternity.
