Stay - Poem by Heather Jean

I gave you my heart
I gave you my soul
I gave you my world
And you let it go
You took everything I ever knew
And threw it away
And the last thing I can do is stay
The way we used to talk
The way we used to laugh
How we tossed away our fears
And overcame our past
All those nights we spent lookin at the stars
Thinking bout our dreams
And guys that stole our hearts
The way we used to cry the way we used to smile
Aint it funny
How they drift away after a while
You took my heart
You took my soul
You took it all
And you let it go
You took everything I ever knew
And tossed it away
And the last thing I can do is stay
Ten o’clock at night
Half a tank of gas
Finally leavin you
And my past
With the starts to guide my broken heart
I’ll get a cheap motel and a brand new start
I’ll fix my heart
And patch my soul
I’ll rebuild the world that you let go
I’ll relearn everything I ever knew
I’ll never throw it away
That’s why I won’t stay
Yeah the last thing I can do is stay
