Stay Alani Stay Poem by Victor Adex

Stay Alani Stay

Do you not mind that the earth will scorn your demise?
Do you not care that from death none again shall arise?
Who gave you advice to seek solace in paradise?
Do you know the route? What if you get lost in hell?
None there has come back to tell us how well it is up or down there

Are you not scared of the mountain of lying shoes?
That would assemble to shed hypocritical tears
Father you hate, what of mother and your younger ones
What if they love your model and they follow suite?

What of Adigun and us all: your friends?
Would you leave us behind, not keeping in touch?
We do not post to heaven, neither do we tweet to hell
Your death for us now will not be well
May Hades lock you out, may Paradise reject your soul

What of Adesewa your love? Will death make all things well?
Do you not know that great men were born ordinary men?
Sometimes they fail nine out of ten
When trouble brews they give their best, never giving up
Do you know the flames forging precious gems?

May the earth vomit your body
And our ancestors reject your spirit
Remember those before you, how they scale the impossible
Based in by batons of tragedies, swept over by waves of failures
But, they dared hope and did the impossible

Remember all men are born the same
A soul of light yet without blame
Blank slates to write their story
Either with mire or with glory
We are not promised smooth said or easy life
But have faith because greatness also is meant for you

You are such an amazing writer. A well captured emotion motivated by the demise of a loved one. Very deep.
