Stay Safe Poem by David Olughu

Stay Safe

Like a baby due for birth, you came knocking.
You caused a stand still despite neither being a queen nor king.
Men of valor became mere weaklings,
so you began your unabated killings.
You caused a tear in the fabric of life,
and made a deep cut in the hearts of many without a knife;
indeed you fueled strife.
You put limitations to religion and a pause to everything academic.
So they declared you a worldwide pandemic.

But there's a reason we're the higher organisms,
we understand patterns and mechanisms.
We don't just survive; we thrive.
And just like your predecessor, you we'll also drive.
So, we isolate, we sanitize.
We appreciate the exercise.
Because this is the only gate to minimize
the attempt to assassinate and criticize.
We would fight, we won't grow weary.
Our deeds will be recorded in the heroes diary.
We'll all wear crowns as we give our Father the glory.
For in Him we have victory.
This worldwide disease will definitely decrease,
and we'll return to our lives of cheer and bliss.j
Stay safe and have a cup of tea, that's why it's called safety.
