Stay With Me Poem by Damien Carroll

Stay With Me

Stay away from me Evil
Stay away from me now
I'm already in darkness
Check the lines on my brow

It's the shaking that's relentless
It's the panic deep inside
The fear of going sober
I can't hold back the tide

Are these thoughts of you for real
Are the colours all now grey
My hands they won't stop shaking
Everything is so surreal

Slow down the voice insists
Slowing down is good for you
But slowing down feels like dying
Slowing down will turn me blue

I still see her brown eyes
I still crave her touch
But she still won't forgive me
Man I love her so much

It's a slow moving train in the dark
It's a speed up heartbeat across my chest
It's a slow moving moon across the park
It won't be long and I'll be laid to rest

Please rescue me from this terror
Please remove me from this war
Where is this road leading
I can't take it any more

Perhaps tomorrow will be better
Perhaps tomorrow will be bright
But for now I must endure it
For now I must hold tight

Stay away from me Evil
Stay away from me now
I'm already in darkness
Check the lines on my brow
