Steel Cage... Poem by Khalid Hameed

I am a lonely bird
locked in a steel cage,
if it makes you happy
go squeeze my neck,
when you are angry and enraged.
have your joy and fun
when I am disgraced,
and have no other place to run
I know you want to keep me down
for your pleasure, and at your command
if I dare show my feelings,
you make me kneel down
one big swoop,
you cut me down
into pieces
till I am left with no feeling
and can’t make any sound.
