Steely Reptiles Poem by James Sides

Steely Reptiles

Like steely reptiles
They sketch the earth
And move as on silver screens.

Like dusty future's
Jilt and jerk, of
CGI's wet dream

Our dog tags flare
Over our names
So weighty from so far.

Like steely reptiles
In jaunty dance
We dig,
we pray,
we are.

And I will breathe my memory
See only its effects
A rag-doll man of rag band times
I crumble at your breast

A song of love
Like all the best
A simple, worldly cry to rest
These claws that pump your long-dead chest
If i've sore lungs in peace i'm left

There is a certain sense of desperation and despair in this poem...very moving.
