Sterces Poem by Laraine Freeman

Sterces

one foot on the treadle,
the other, snaked around
the leg of a wooden chair, now
damnit, spin!
spin faster! time
is growing short.

lies,
cover the ears
of children lies.
and words canter,
careen, whirl
until, behold -
a mommy.
