Still There Poem by Gordon D Wilkinson

Still There

Rating: 5.0

Run to the solace of silence
Hide behind the locked shuttered windows
Deep in the bowels of safety
Hiding with yourself
It will still be there
The turmoil
Confusion
Anarchy rising
Yes, it will still be there
Once you pluck up the courage
Head down and forced into the light
It changes
Slowly ever so slowly
Forwards to some perfection
Faster to destruction
Longer than a lifetime
There is no hiding place
This place
The one we call home
Still there with all its faults
Complete with the beauty and ugliness all in one
Its home
There is no hiding from mother earth

The 'solace of silence' is such an apt description of the help we can get if we do 'run' there when needed Gordon - - thank you for this masterful reminder.... best wishes and 10 + ++ from Fay.
