Stillness... Poem by KUNAL SETH

Stillness...

Rating: 5.0

Stillness invades my mind
Fears packed and kept aside
Come and take me
I am making shelter for my own rain
I don’t need there permission
Nor their nod for my stains
It’s been a while since I sang
Stopped pulling up my thoughts that loosely hanged
Let the velvet breeze carry them past this shore
Far away from these walls that oversee me
Leaving all the flesh and blood behind
Never to return to claim that they say is mine

Skin of every color looking for a shroud
Silence seeping out of the crowd
Like the enemy sneaking into unknown territory
Where the blurred lamps of wisdom shine on the darkest side
The place where we all want to live away from all civility
Golden highs and the abysmal depths
Scaling them with the scales of breaths
Birds don’t have to worry they don’t understand scales
Neither they have any trails
Balanced between the feathers
A gift rarely bought or cared
Anxiety breeds new quests
But my stillness draws the curtains on my anxious steps
