Strange Dismay Poem by Sean Green

Strange Dismay

The compassion is evident
in the offering of an ear
to listen to the mutterings
of a soul lost to pain.

commitment made to hear the words
opens doors to new realms
the bizarre in a landscape
foreign to the helping eye

stories spun from bold cloth
can't be shared in response
by the virtue of too much
or not enough to cover up

the fullest part of the plea
is denied in response
with compassion not to blame
in the face of strange dismay.
