Strange Music Poem by Bryan Riley

Strange Music

The surprised tone of
a frog's call as it is
taken unawares by a
serpent in the night

The rattling of bare
branches in a
sudden breeze,
like a windchime
made of bones

The wailing of a siren
as it demonstrates
the Doppler Effect while
fading off to nothing
in the distance

Or

The blade of a bone-handled
knife shrieking as it
scrapes its way
across a dinner plate
