Street Monsters Poem by Audley Huxley Parris

Street Monsters

Rating: 3.0

In El Salvador's streets, a story unfolds
Of gangs and their tales, as the story goes
Mara Salvatrucha and La 18 they're named
But their violent actions need to be tamed

They wear tattoos and colours that represent their gangs
In every alleyway residents hear 'bangs! '
They tie people with gloomy and scary chains
They leave families with long lasting pains.

Kids get trapped in their branches
Thinking that they can upgrade their economic chances
They help them sell drugs
Knowing that they'll become wanted thugs

But remember they are all not to blame
They search a better life not a life of shame
They dream for peace and a brighter day
So they can safely laugh and play

So everyone in this country needs to take action
So we can liberate those poor souls from those factions
So with education, peace and unity we'll fight
To make El Salvador's future shining bright
